Mental health refers to the state of our emotional, psychological and social well-being. A simple way to think about it is like this: Our mental health affects how we feel and think, as well as how we act in certain situations. Finding ways to feel better when you're down is very difficult, but a little self care can surely do the trick!
Face masks are so fun and a great way to get yourself to relax after a long day. They can receive stress, calm you, and of course help your completion. A few of my absolute favorite are the Almond & Honey Face Scrub, which is a decadent scrub enriched with skin-softening oils. Another one I love is the tight & bright clay multi-mask, which is a detoxifying & purifying exfoliating mask: Perfect for the oily T-zone, this shine control mask helps tighten pores & detox your skin from the day’s pollutants. If you ever need a few minutes to forget about your worries, and feel better about yourself, I suggest trying face masks!

Block out the negativity, you can usually pick and choose to what you listen to and surround yourself with. Leaving people behind, or making new friends is a form of self care that people may not even think of. Friendships can be toxic and draining, and may cause your mental health to struggle. Learn to let people go for the better, and remember it's always nice to make new friends.
Take a self-care break by getting outside, Spending time outside can help you reduce stress, lower your blood pressure, and be more mindful. Studies have even shown that getting outside can help reduce fatigue, making it a great way to overcome symptoms of depression or burnout. Getting outside can also help you sleep better at night, especially if you do some physical activity, like hiking or walking, while you are outside. Simply going for run, or walk will give you time to think, set goals, and clear your mind. This is a great way to feel accomplished, and manage your stress.

Find help through your pet. Your pets can help alleviate stress, anxiety, depression, and feelings of loneliness and social isolation. A 2016 study explored the role of pets in the social networks of people managing a long-term mental health problem and found that pets provide a sense of security and routine that provided emotional and social support. Not only are people happier in the presence of animals, they’re also healthier. In a survey of pet owners, 74% of pet owners reported mental health improvements from pet ownership, and 75% of pet owners reported a friend’s or family member’s mental health has improved from pet ownership. It is great to know that you can find ways to improve your mental health all around you.
Overall, there are tons of ways to improve your mental health, and it is important to always set goals and think of new ways that work for YOU. Not everyone can do these self care tips and improve so further research is always a good idea! Remember to always stay positive and know you are special! Here is a quiz you can take, to help you find your self-care style.
